Win tickets to John Fogerty!

Talk about prolific: Can you believe Creedence Clearwater Revival needed less than 5 full years to produce 29 singles, most of which you can probably sing along to 50-some years later?

It’s true – from “Suzie Q” in 1968 to “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” in 1973, the American “swamp rock” band sold more than 30 million albums and singles in the U.S. alone and holds the record for most singles to reach #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart without scoring a top hit.

They’re also one of several bands with numerous mentions on the list of “most misheard song lyrics.” Seriously – there’s not only a website for that, there’s also a word for it. It’s called a “mondegreen”, a term that was introduced to most dictionaries in the early 2000s and officially made Merriam-Webster in 2008.

Starting this Friday, Craig is going to highlight some of his favorite CCR-themed mondegreens by tossing out a lead-in line and then giving you a chance to complete it with the proper lyric. It’s called “Fogerty Friday”, and the listener who gets it right first will win a pair of tickets to see CCR frontman John Fogerty perform LIVE at Northern Quest Casino & Resort on July 17.

We’ll repeat the contest on June 15th and June 22nd, so if you miss out the first time you WILL get another chance!

So dust up on your lyrics and get those finger-dialin’ fingers primed, because there’s a bathroom on the right. Err … there’s a contest on the horizon. Whatever. Good luck, and thanks for keeping it on the Trail!
