We’re just a few weeks away from arguably the most anticipated downtown festival of the summer – the River City Roots Festival!
Now in it’s 11th year, Roots Fest is not only a great place to enjoy some of the best in Americana, bluegrass and roots music, it’s also jam packed with everything you love about Missoula: exceptional arts and culture, healthy living, sustainability and scrumptious food and drink. And admission is FREE!
This year’s festival kicks off with a juried art show featuring 30 regional artists on Main Street at 11 am Friday, August 26th, followed by the Family Fun Festival in Caras Park. Music on the Main Street stage commences at 2:30 pm with Gipsy Moon. Friday’s lineup also includes Fruition, Darrell Scott and the night’s headliner will be Missoula’s own Lil’ Smokies at 8:30.
On Saturday, August, 27th, the activities start at 8:30 am with a Fun Run from downtown through the University district, along the riverfront trail and back. The Family Fun Fest and art show pick back up at 10 and 11 am, respectively, and then the Whizpops will kick off the music at 12:30 pm.
Saturday’s music lineup also includes Good Time Travelers, Sol Driven Train and the Jeff Austin Band, with Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Rodney Crowell closes out the festival beginning at 8:30 pm.
