Sunny is the Trail’s new mascot. Sunny’s story is as unique as most Montanans. Sunny was born and bred to be a service dog. He was born on July 2nd, 2008. (This coincidently is the same day as the Trail’s Birthday). He was raised by Mike and Sylvia in California. Mike and Sylvia are special dog people. They train dogs for Guide Dogs of America. Guide Dogs of America is a wonderful organization that breeds and trains dog’s to become service dogs for the blind. After several months of personal training by Mike and Sylvia, Sunny was enrolled in the Guide Dog school in Sylmar, California. Sunny was a wonderful student and his easy going personality was ideal to become a service dog. Unfortunately, Sunny developed a cancerous growth in his eye and required laser surgery. Sunny came through the surgery with flying colors, but his condition made him less than ideal to be placed as a service dog.
A career change for Sunny was needed. Many of us in Radio never intended to be in Radio we just “landed” here. So too did Sunny. In April of 2010, Sunny came to his new home in Montana.
Sunny is the perfect “Trail Dog” and is adjusting to his new career very well.
Look for Sunny at many of our Trail Events throughout Missoula and the Bitterroot. You can always catch him on Facebook.

Sunny’s Gear Spot
Every dog needs his favorite Toys, food and Gear. Sunny only shops at Go Fetch!
Here are a few of his picks….
When in the office, Sunny can usually be found on his Ruff Wear Mt. Bachelor Pad –
this is great because it can be used in the office, in the car, at home, or on a camping trip. While Sunny likes that he always have a cozy bed to snooze on, we like it because it protects the furniture from getting Sunny hair all over it.
No matter how long of a walk or hike, Sunny won’t be without food and water thanks to Ruff Wear’s Bivy Bowl and Quencher. They are both ultra light portable food and water dishes. Best part is that it will fit in the smallest corner of your bag or pack.
When riding to and from work, you can find Sunny in his Cruising Companion which keeps him safe but still allows him to see out the window or lie down and take a little nap if he wants to.
Sunny loves going on long walks and we love Biobag Dog Waste Bags on a Roll! This way we can do our part to take care of the environment along with being discrete by keeping the waste bags in our pocket or purse.
Sunny loves being out on the water, while in the boat he wears Ruff Wear Portage Float Coat. This life jacket is great for all water activities and even helps Sunny swim farther and longer without getting so tired.
On the way to the water, Sunny sports the Ruff Wear Approach Pack; not only going to the water, this pack is great for everyday use. Great for both us and Sunny, it gives him a job as well as lessening our load.
Sunny gets excited to go on walks anyways but it can’t help that he has an awesome leash that provides more than meets the eye. When we go for walks outside around the office, we use the hand held option, but if we are on the phone or wanting our hands free, we just wrap the leash around our waist and clip. Lastly, if Sunny is at an event or outside function for a period of time, we can wrap the leash around a tree or post and be good to go!
Sunny’s Friends
Sunny has a special relationship with the Humane Society of Western Montana. There are a few friends that need a new home.
